Position Overview

The Social Media Summer Coordinator will support the organization’s communications and outreach efforts by creating engaging digital content and assisting with online community engagement. This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program and is designed to provide meaningful work experience, skill development, and mentorship in marketing and communications.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the creation and scheduling of content across social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook)
• Support the development and execution of social media campaigns to promote programs, events, and services
• Capture photo and video content in the office and at events and within the organization
• Draft clear, engaging captions and short-form content aligned with brand voice
• Monitor social media channels and respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner
• Conduct basic analytics tracking and report on performance (reach, engagement, growth)
• Maintain and update the content calendar
• Research social media trends and recommend new content ideas

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Interest in marketing, communications, or digital media
• Familiarity with social media platforms and trends
• Basic knowledge of design tools (e.g., Canva) and/or video editing tools is an asset
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Learning Outcomes & Supervision

The student will receive:

• Ongoing mentorship and supervision from Marketing Manager
• Training in content creation, branding, and digital marketing strategy
• Hands-on experience with social media management tools and analytics
• Opportunities to develop professional communication and project management skills

Regular check-ins and feedback sessions will support the student’s learning and professional development throughout the placement.

Eligibility (Canada Summer Jobs Requirements)

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
• Be legally entitled to work in Canada
