About Marcelo Sarkis

Marcelo Sarkis is a professional engineer, registered patent agent in Canada and the U.S.A., a fellow of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, and the founder of Prima IP bringing over 36 years of experience in intellectual property law. His expertise spans the pharmaceutical, chemical, oil and gas, medical device, and mechanical sectors, where he has successfully drafted and prosecuted patent applications and industrial designs. Prior to founding Prima IP, Marcelo worked at a leading intellectual property boutique firm and an internationally renowned multidisciplinary law firm, advising clients on the strategic procurement, management, and protection of intellectual property rights. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Marcelo is passionate about community engagement. He dedicates his time to teaching and training in kukkiwon taekwondo through the non-profit Blue Wave Taekwondo Canada and actively supports new Canadians by welcoming them through the discipline of martial arts. Marcelo’s comprehensive knowledge in intellectual property law positions him as a key resource for businesses aiming to protect and leverage their innovations.
