Carmen Doucette: Supporting the Mission to Solve Canada’s Childcare CrisisAt the Innovation Cluster, we see firsthand how personal challenges often spark the most impactful business solutions. When Carmen Douette joined our community, she wasn't just looking to start a business; she was looking to solve a problem she had lived: the impossible search for trusted childcare.
"The Innovation Cluster pushed me to think bigger and move faster. They gave me the confidence to turn a personal struggle into a mission to help one million Canadian families."
For many Canadian families, the search for trusted childcare feels "impossible." Carmen Douette lived this struggle firsthand, identifying a massive gap in the market: independent home daycares often had available space but lacked the digital infrastructure to be discovered by the parents who needed them most. Carmen joined the Innovation Cluster with an early-stage prototype and a bold mission to bridge this divide for 1 million families.
As part of our LevelUp program, Carmen transitioned from a "perfection" mindset to one of steady, strategic progress. By leveraging weekly workshops and expert mentorship (ExIRs), she refined her vision and leaned into the founder community for support. The pivotal moment arrived at our LevelUp pitch competition; Carmen took the stage, shared her mission with conviction, and secured first place—providing the critical validation and momentum needed to move from prototype to product.
Today, Her Yes Club has evolved from a simple MVP into a thriving tech platform available on the App Store and Google Play. With international partnerships secured and families actively onboarding, Carmen has successfully turned a personal pain point into a scalable solution. Her journey serves as a powerful reminder that when you empower a mission-driven founder, they don’t just build a company—they build a lifeline for an entire community.
